Ceramic Weaving

Exploration

Using different dynamisms (ways of cutting, scaling, and copying forms in the creation of Hindu temple architecture) we have developed a way of creating “Weaves” from the combination of several interwoven elements - “threads.” By keeping the information of each thread through every step of the digital process, and performing several operations on them one by one, we've also come up with a technique for slicing each “Weave” up into 3D printable bricks and steer clear of self-intersections (which are generally problematic when 3D printing). We call this process “Ceramic Weaving,” and it can be described as a tangling and an untangling process.
