Hindu Temples

2018
Exploration

We conducted a small study in the Old Town of Ahmedabad, India, aimed at investigating the role of Hindu temples in the local urban fabric - how they are used and how they affect their closest surroundings. Temples of different sizes were included in the research, and we formulated four categories depending on their size: tiny, small, medium and large. We found the size of the temples to be a rather important factor regarding their usage. Aspects that seemed to be affected by this was, for example, the notion of privacy, the time spent at the temple, and the number of ritual participants. The study is included in our book The Weave if you want to read more about it.
