Liminis
2025
Liminis is a three-meter-tall column developed for the 2025 Architecture Biennale in Venice. The project was selected through an open call in spring 2024 and is part of the exhibition Matters Make Sense | Material Bank, which explores the intersection of innovative materiality and human sensory perception, a theme central to Polymorf’s practice.
The work is inspired by Christopher Alexander’s theories on Relatedness and stems from an ongoing investigation into the relationship between material, form, and human experience. In dialogue with the six-meter-tall columns of the historic Corderie halls, Liminis consists of 90 unique terracotta bricks, each 3D-printed and assembled on site using reinforcement and mortar. Six grooves branch fractally along the surface, multiplying as they rise. While the column carries classical references, it stands apart through a distinctly organic expression that reimagines traditional architectural language.
