Mythogenesis is a proposal for a strategy regarding the site of a nuclear waste isolation pilot plant that should work to warn future societies of the dangers of such a site. In this project we imagine a future where the Internet implies a more profound interconnectivity of both things, places, and humans in an almost religious manner, and how this could be utilized to keep future generations away from the radioactive waste below through harnessing the power of bottom-up myth formation. By burying an artifact disrupting all Internet activity at the site of the plant, we theorize how to potentially emphasize the universality and transcendental aspects of the Internet, and incrementally transform the nuclear waste site into a sacred place worth protecting, rather than one to exploit.
