Neomads
2016
Project
Neomads is a project that emerged from a collaboration between architect Vera Ceginskas Lindström and Polymorf's Albin Karlsson. Central to the project is a future scenario signified by a turning-point for how the City is generally seen as the very definition of opportunity. People unable to live in mega cities filled with stress, pollution, and constant surveillance at one point moved away, seeking refuge in the world's deserts. They were the neo nomads, or Neomads. The harsh climatic conditions of the future deserts, however, call for practical and innovative solutions on how to cope with the increasing heat. The manipulated fabric used by the neo nomads in the construction of their tents allows the interior of their living spaces to be colder as the smocking of the tents’ membranes provide self-shading benefits.
